Nathaniel Cavalletto, LCSW

About

I am a psychotherapist specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of mental health disorders and problems in living for adult patients. I have been a therapist for 15 years and have broad experience, having provided treatment to people from many different backgrounds, contending with a wide range of issues.  I offer diagnostic assessments, consultations, and treatment. Feel free to contact me to schedule an appointment or to ask any questions you may have.

About Me

I received my BA from the University of Chicago, where I graduated with general and departmental honors, and my master’s degree in Social Work from Columbia University. Prior to becoming a therapist, I worked with children in foster care and with public health research projects in New York City and the Gulf Coast. My clinical training is from Montefiore Hospital, the Jewish Board of Family and Children’s Services, as well as the William Alanson White Institute, where I maintain an ongoing connection. In addition to working in treatment settings, I was the Social Work supervisor at the CUNY School of Law. I am certified in psychoanalytic psychotherapy, and also incorporate influences from trainings in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), and other modalities into my practice. While my clinical work is influenced by theory, I also have a pragmatic sensibility.

Treatment

I work to create an open and non-judgmental atmosphere rooted in curiosity and deep respect for the life, mind, and aspirations of the people I treat. I am sensitive and  attuned to problems in relationships, issues connected to gender and sexuality, the interplay between problems of the mind and body, difficulties with high stress work environments, and many other aspects of the human experience.
